LAMP COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE: tree for me

On Saturday, May 11th at the Assembly Hall we will be providing a tree planting and care workshop as well as handing out trees.

Here’s how you can help as a volunteer:

  • Help us get the word out before the event

  • Sign in guests, explain how the process works to get a tree

  • Teach people how to properly plant and care for their new tree (we offer a workshop so you learn how to teach others)

  • Distribute trees!

pact urban peace program: tree for me

PACT welcomes volunteers to assist with running our Tree for Me event.

culturelink: tree for me

We are recruiting newcomer youth between the ages of 12-24 years old, who are interested in playing an important role in their community. We are seeking eager youth, who will be rewarded with an honorarium to attend training, canvas in the community and distribute trees for planting.

BLACK CREEK COMMUNITY FARM: tree for me

Volunteer Positions:

- Greeter: Greeters will be the first point of contact for guests and will be responsible for answering questions, explaining how the event is run, checking people in, assisting with registrations, event setup and tear-down as well as other miscellaneous duties.

- Tree-Matcher: This volunteer role is dedicated to matching walk-up participants with the most appropriate tree for their planting location. This role requires the volunteer to have a good understanding of the trees provided by Tree For Me.

- Workshop host: Workshop hosts will be responsible for teaching guests proper planting and care techniques; digging a hole, preparing the tree for planting, planting the tree, and tree care. Volunteers should be comfortable talking to groups of people and answering questions about tree care. This role is best suited for those who have knowledge of or interest in forestry and/or gardening.

- Tree/Mulch Distributor: Distributors will be responsible for ensuring participants walk away with the tree species they’ve been matched with.

● Spanish or Vietnamese Interpreter (Volunteer honorarium available for 2 volunteers filling this position

- one for each language): Assist in outreach and on event day with interpretation for visitors speaking Vietnamese or Spanish. For this position, volunteer must attend the Volunteer Orientation and be comfortable assisting in all the stations.
